Sraddha Yoga Science LLC. was founded by Yhara Quiroz, MD, RYT-500, (click here for Yhara’s bio), in order to make the ancient science & tradition of yoga available to all who wish to learn. Sraddha, pronounced "shraad-ha," is the Sanskrit word for faith. Sraddha is the kind of faith comes from experience, which leads to having faith in oneself and in one's life journey, which is different than religious faith. Yoga is derived from the root Sanskrit word, "yug," which means to yoke together, thus, one definition of yoga is the convergence of the mind-body-spirit complex of the individual, and the individual's connection to everything else in the known and unknown universe. Much like science, yoga is completely experientially based, and every time we practice yoga is an experiment of sorts. The yoga practice asks us to try something out on ourselves, an experiment, and honestly ask ourselves what we sensed, what we felt, how we reacted, etc. A mindful & honest yoga practice will eventually transcend the physical plane of reality, into a space that is difficult to describe in words, but is best felt. Without a doubt, yoga cultivates homeostasis in all aspects our lives.
"Without a doubt, my favorite aspect of yoga is pranayama, the conscious breathing techniques. Conscious breathing is the heart of yoga. The breath tethers us to the present moment, bridging mind with body, linking the physical & spiritual aspects of the practice together, & activating the part of our nervous systems that is responsible for peace, rest, and repair. Every body can learn a few simple breathing techniques to significantly improve their lives, reduce disease-causing stress, and sooth their mind-body-soul complex. Once a few techniques are learned, these techniques can be utilized any where and at any moment, making them one of the most important and cost-effective tools we have to cope with the stressors of modern life, and to help cultivate joy & peace in every moment."
